Prerequisite
An iPad already signed in with your Apple ID. If you do not have an Apple ID, you can create a new Apple ID by following the steps here.
1. Download the Deckhand app
1.1 Tap App Store icon. | ![]() |
1.2 Tap Search at the bottom right of the screen. | ![]() |
1.3 Type “deckhand” in the search field and tap Search. You will see Deckhand in the search result. Tap Get to start the download. | ![]() |
1.4 When prompted, follow the onscreen steps to enter your Apple ID password or use Touch/Face ID, depending on your iPad model. 1.5 Wait for the Deckhand app to download and install. 1.6 Once installed, tap Open to launch Deckhand. | ![]() |
2. Create a Deckhand account
2.1 A pop-up “Deckhand” would like to send you notifications. will appear, tap Allow, then tap Sign in. | ![]() |
2.2 Tap Create an account. | ![]() |
2.3 Enter your name, a valid email address and password. Tap Create an Account when done. | ![]() |
2.4 Check your email for a verification code from noreply@mydeckhand.com. | ![]() |
2.5 Enter the verification code, then tap Verify Account. You can tap Resend Code if you have not received the verification code in your Inbox or Junk folder after 2 minutes. | ![]() |
2.6 Tap Allow While Using App when Deckhand asks to use your location. You will need to change this to Always later in Settings. | ![]() |
2.7 Enter a new pin (minimum 4 digits). | ![]() |
2.8 You will be greeted with the Welcome and Introduction screens. Please have a quick read if you are a new user. Tap Close at any time to exit and start using Deckhand. | ![]() |
3. Location Access
To ensure the accuracy of location tracking, change tracking to Always.
3.1 Tap Settings icon. | ![]() |
3.2 In the Settings menu, scroll down to the last section and tap Deckhand. In Deckhand settings > Location, tap While Using. | ![]() |
3.3 Tap Always. If you see the blue tick, your settings have been successfully changed. | ![]() |
