CatchFlow™ IDE

Custom Workflows for Any Fishery

CatchFlow is Deckhand's workflow authoring platform — where data collection modules are custom-built to match your fishery, regulation, and operational requirements exactly.

What is CatchFlow?

The Platform That Powers Every Deckhand Workflow

The Deckhand platform comes alive with CatchFlow workflows — modules that are custom-crafted to suit any data collection requirement, from simple catch recording to complex multi-species regulatory reporting.

CatchFlow™ IDE is where our specialists author, modify, and interactively test workflows before deploying them to the Deckhand app. The result: a logbook experience that feels built for your specific fishery, not a generic form you have to work around.

  • Workflows tailored to your fishery, gear type, and region
  • Supports NOAA, PIRSA, MPI, and custom regulatory schemas
  • Simple, readable code that defines UI and data capture logic
  • Interactive testing before any workflow goes live on vessels
  • Updates deployed remotely — no app reinstall required

How It Works

From Workflow Design to Vessel Deployment

Every Deckhand deployment starts with a CatchFlow workflow. Here's the process from initial requirements through to fishermen using it at sea.

1

Requirements Gathering

Our team works with you to understand your fishery, gear types, species, and regulatory reporting requirements. Every data point your fishermen need to capture is mapped out before a line of code is written.

2

Workflow Authoring in the IDE

Specialists write the CatchFlow workflow — a clean, readable code format that defines the UI screens, data fields, validation rules, and submission logic. The IDE allows interactive testing at every stage.

3

Testing & Approval

The workflow is tested against real-world scenarios and reviewed against the relevant regulatory schema. Any required changes are made before the workflow is signed off for deployment.

4

Deployment to Vessels

The approved workflow is published to the Deckhand platform and immediately available to all licensed vessels. Updates are pushed remotely — fishermen don't need to reinstall or reconfigure anything.

5

Data Collection at Sea

Fishermen use the Deckhand app to record trips, catches, and effort data in the workflow built for their fishery. The app works fully offline — an internet connection is only needed to send reports.

6

Reporting & Submission

Completed trip records are submitted directly to the relevant regulatory authority or organisation dashboard — eliminating manual re-entry and reducing compliance risk across the fleet.

CatchFlow in Action

One App. Every Fishery. All Your Data.

CatchFlow workflow code in the IDE

CatchFlow code is simple and readable — it defines what screens appear, in what order, with what data fields and validation logic. A workflow for a halibut longline trip looks completely different from one for a rock lobster pot fishery, and that's exactly the point.

Each workflow is a precise representation of the data collection requirements for that specific fishery. There are no generic fields to ignore, no paper logbook concepts forced into a digital form — just the right screens, in the right order, for your fishermen.

  • Species-specific data fields and validation
  • Trip start, set, haul, and landing screens configured per fishery
  • Bycatch and discard recording built into the workflow
  • Conditional logic based on gear type, area, or quota
  • All recorded data available in real time on the fleet dashboard
Platform Capabilities

Built to Handle the Complexity of Commercial Fishing

CatchFlow workflows handle far more than basic catch recording. The platform supports the full range of data collection requirements across any fishery type.

Catch & Effort Recording

Species, weight, count, gear effort, area, depth, and environmental data captured in the exact format required for regulatory submission.

Custom Workflow Logic

Conditional screens, branching logic, and validation rules mean fishermen are only shown what's relevant to their trip, gear, and target species.

Offline-First Design

All workflows function completely offline. Data is stored locally on the device. An internet connection is only needed to send reports.

Fleet Dashboard Integration

Every data point captured in a CatchFlow workflow flows through to the fleet dashboard in real time — giving managers complete visibility across all vessels.

Regulatory Report Generation

Workflows produce reports in the exact format required by NOAA, PIRSA, MPI, and other authorities — ready to submit at the tap of a button.

Compliance-Ready

Workflows are reviewed against the relevant regulatory schema before deployment, ensuring every data submission meets authority requirements from day one.
